During the flushing you might experience cloudy or dis-colored water and/or reduced water pressure. The system should return to normal 30 minutes after we complete for the night. Caroling for Laney

Saturday, December 21, 2013   Tonight members of the WRFD gathered with 10,000 of our closest friends to sing Christmas carols for Delaney Brown, an 8 year old resident of West Reading who is suffering from cancer. Along with the WRPD and assistance from neighboring police and fire police we provided security and traffic control to make the event a success. We keep Laney in our thoughts while she fights this battle and thank you to all that participated to brighten her spirits.

Sunday, August 25, 2013   Ladder 64 was dispatched to assist the Greenfields Fire Company with a working barn fire on Upper Van Reed Road in Bern Township in the early morning hours of August 25th.  We set up for master stream operations and assisted in bringing the fire under control with no damage to any adjoining structures.  Please visit www.greenfields55.com for more information and thanks to them for the pictures!

Record month for the 64 house

For the month of July the department responded to a total of 58 fire/emergency incidents, which was a record month for the department.  Many of these calls were assist calls to the Borough of Wyomissing, which we were providing our aerial while they awaited the delivery of their new Seagrave/Aerialscope.  With the arrival of Tower 79 we anticipate the call volume to return to normal levels.  We are on pace for another record year of responses in 2013, so we remain busy keeping the Borough safe!

MVA - 2nd and Penn Ave's
