The corner of Playground and Parkview.
Our old bell is in the foreground in front of the flagpole, which is
in front of the clock tower. |

The west side of the building.
The bell and flagpole are on the left, clock/hose tower, apparatus
bay, comm. center and day room are visible. |

The rear of the building
is where firefighters and visitors can park. The overhead door leads
to our storage garage or "4th bay." (See below.) |
|

Engine 64, Truck 64, and Squad 64
face the setting sun. Entrance to comm. center and day room can be
seen in background. |

Gear racks in the rear of the apparatus
room store firefighters' turnout gear. The entryway from the rear is
visible near center. |

The "4th Bay"
opens into the rear parking lot and was originally designed for
storage of large items and potentially for a support vehicle such as
a pickup truck or Suburban. This room now houses a Western Berks
ambulance 24 hours a day. |
|

Company 64's apparatus
as seen in the apparatus room through one of the comm. center windows. |

The bulletin board in the comm. center
is where important notices and training information are posted. |

The windows in the comm. center offer a
90-degree view of the world outside. The TV is for monitoring news
and weather during an emergency. |
|

The Fitness Room
was built into the building to encourage our firefighters to stay
physically fit, for the sake of their own health and to improve their
firefighting abilities. |

The Training Room
is where we hold our monthly business meetings and classroom
training, and can be used for other functions such as Borough Council meetings. |

The Day Room
(or "lounge") is a place where our firefighters (and WBEMS
personnel) can relax and take in some TV... |
|

...or enjoy a meal. |

Personnel can prepare their own meals in the complete kitchen. |

A view from the kitchen windows,
looking out on the patio and back toward the rear parking lot. |
|

The Main Entrance Lobby
houses our antique hose cart and provides access to our company
office and engine room. |

The Main Entrance Lobby
also houses all of our trophies, historical memorabilia and provides
access to our Training Room. |

A Memorial to the late E. David Wenger,
long time Lieutenant and President of WRFD, occupies one of the
trophy cabinets. |
|

A generator,
powered by its own diesel engine, provides emergency power and
lighting to the entire building in the event of a power outage. |

The Clock Tower,
on the inside, is used for drying and storage of hose and high-angle
rescue training. |

The Laundry Room
provides a washer and dryer to clean turnout gear, bunk room bed
sheets and other items. Also in this room are our ice machine, a
floor (mop) sink, a double stainless steel sink for washing of small
items, and storage of cleaning & maintenance supplies. |
|

The Tool Room
stores tools, spare equipment, parts, and supplies for cleaning and
maintenance of our hand tools, power tools and apparatus. |

The Tool Room
also features a work bench with stainless steel top (in case of fluid
spills), a decontamination shower and eye wash, and an air compressor
(not shown) for working with air tools inside the building. |

The Men's Bunk Room
can sleep 9 male firefighters and EMS crew. The station also features
a women's bunk room which sleeps 4. |
|

Another view of the men's bunk room shows how the beds (in both bunk
rooms) fold into the walls so the room can be used for other purposes. |

The Men's Locker Room
features lockers, toilet and shower facilities. |

The Women's Bunk Room
sleeps 4 and features locker, toilet and shower facilities similar to
the men's bunk room. |
